Inventor not recognizing Jevois under Win7.

Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before but I didn't see any similar posts on a search.

I'm running the latest Inventor with the latest JeVois s/w.

At first, windows detected Jevois device as a Teensy microcontroller. (Same type of device I suppose)  I uninstalled the Teensy driver and installed the JeVois driver that you can download from the site.  Windows shows JeVois as a 'JeVois A33 Serial over USB' on Com 51.

Inventor will not get passed the 'Waiting for JeVois'.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers several times and forced the com port to com2 with no luck.

The JeVois does work as I can run the programs through AMCap.

Is there anything else I can try?  Thanks..

Dave

Are you running 1.8.1? I had what sounds like the same problem until I flashed the SD card with version 1.8.1

Thanks Peter,
Yeah, I updated the firmware to 1.8.1 just before running out of ideas.
If you're really stuck you might try setting up a Ubuntu VM on VirtualBox or something and seeing if you can get Inventor to run there.

Yes, even though we do send manufacturer and device ID strings over USB, Qt on windows just seems to ignore them and to use whatever name was in the last driver .inf file used that matches the device identifiers (like teensy). The same Qt code on Linux and macs does read the strings from the USB device and reports the manufacturer and device strings that JeVois sends. We are looking into this...

in the meantime, can you uninstall the video device driver as well? If you have used it with AmCap in the past, it may have assigned a different name to JeVois. So just try the same trick as for serial:

- plug in jevois

- go to device manager and find the video or serial device

- uninstall driver

- unplug jevois and wait for a minute or two

- plug it back in and wait for windows to install driver

- should work now...
