Computer doesnt recognize device, but orange light is solid

0 votes
Hello,

I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem for a while. I flashed my 8Gb SD card with the latest software using etcher, made sure I fully inserted the SD card (it clicked), but when I plug in the camera to the usb drive, the computer doesnt even notice.

I tried this on a linux machine and windows 10 running on a 2013 macbook pro.

When I plug in the camera, the green light comes on, then the orange light flashes, then the orange light AND the green light stay on at the same time (Is it normal for both to be on?)

I tried testing it with AMcap and google hangouts, but the computer doesnt even know I connected a device. I also tried multiple USB ports, as well as turning the comp on and off.

Any suggestions on what to try next?

Thanks

Looks like you did everything right. Yes the green LED is always on (it indicates power good).

We have encountered this problem when using "thin" USB cables rated for sync only and not for charging. Although JeVois seems fine, we just can't access it from the host computer. Please see here

If you got your USB cable from us, then maybe the USB port is too weak or there is some kind of hardware issue with your camera. Can you try a 'dmesg' in your host and see the bottom of the page mentioned above to see the expected output?
