The JeVois camera is supposed to have a IR filter.

Can it be removed to track an IR light ?

In principle, yes, but tricky...

there is a small dot of glue on the thread which makes it hard to unscrew.

Another option is to get a different OV9653 sensor with a different lens, just make sure it has the same 24-pin, 0.5mm pitch flat flex cable. Check this post out:
