Brand new user - using SanDisk ultra plus 32G card - get only one orange flash but camera led stays solid green. Ideas?

Did you use Etcher to flash? Make sure it validates the card afterward.
Try a different sdcard greater or equal to 8GB.
My sdcard that came with the device is crap. If you are using that one definitely try a different one.
