Adults have actually already had a great deal of the rhinitis infections. Parents have acquired resistance to the viruses they have had. Therefore there are not quite as many runny nose viruses remaining for parents to acquire. That is why grownups just acquire a couple of runny noses each year and children usually get a dozen colds per year.
